Abstract (English):
Āśādhara Bhaṭṭa,
son of Rāmajī Bhaṭṭa, a profound Sanskrit scholar well-versed
in Padaśāstra, Vākyaśāstra and Pramāṇaśāstra, was a distinguished
figure from the region of Gujarat. He was a disciple of the literary scholar
Dharaṇīdhara and the renowned grammarian Yadurāma Bhaṭṭa.
He flourished under the patronage of Lallubhāi. He was the guru of the eminent scholar Bhagavadbhaṭṭa,
who authored two texts titled Nūtanatarī and Vicāradīpa.
The
present work, Advaitaviveka, is a commentary on a single verse of the Piyūṣanirjharastotra,
a hymn that had previously remained unpublished and inaccessible. Drawing upon
the well-known allegory of the "blind men and the elephant", the text
seeks to harmonize conflicting philosophical doctrines. This endeavour stands
as a testament to the intellectual depth of Āśādhara Bhaṭṭa, who sought to
reconcile diverse philosophical viewpoints through the lens of Advaita Vedānta.
Recently,
three manuscripts (Mātṛkās) of this text have come to light. Based on
these sources, a critical edition of the Advaitaviveka is now presented,
offering valuable insights into the non-dualistic teachings of the Advaita
tradition.

साहित्यगुरुधरणीधरशिष्यः व्याकरणगुरुयदुरामभट्टशिष्यः कोविदानन्दादिनानाग्रन्थप्रणेता गुर्जरप्रदेशीयो बहुश्रुतो विद्वान् लल्लुभायिसमाश्रितः नूतनतरीविचारदीपाख्यग्रन्थद्वयकृद्भगवद्भट्टगुरुः पदवाक्यप्रमाणपारावारीणरामजिभट्टात्मजाशाधरभट्टः। साम्प्रतम् अनुपलब्धस्य अप्रकाशितस्य पीयूषनिर्झरस्तोत्रस्य एकस्य श्लोकस्य व्याख्यानभूतोऽयम् अद्वैतविवेकाख्यो ग्रन्थः। अन्धस्य गजदर्शनम् इति वृत्तान्तं समादाय विवदमानानां दार्शनिकसिद्धान्तानां समन्वयाय कश्चन प्रयासः पदवाक्यप्रमाणपारावारीणेन भट्टाशाधरेण विहितः। अद्वैतमार्गोपदेशपरस्यास्य ग्रन्थस्य मातृकात्रयं सद्यः उपलभ्यते। ताः मातृकाः समादाय ग्रन्थस्यास्य समीक्षात्मकं सम्पादनमिह प्रस्तुतम्।

प्रसिद्ध विद्वान् रामजी भट्ट के पुत्र, साहित्यगुरु धरणीधर के शिष्य, व्याकरणगुरु यदुरामभट्ट के शिष्य, राजस्व अधिकारी लल्लुभाई द्वारा पोषित, पद-वाक्य-प्रमाणशास्त्र के मर्मज्ञ विद्वान और कोविदानन्द प्रभृति अनेक ग्रन्थ के प्रणेता आशाधरभट्ट गुर्जर प्रदेश के एक प्रसिद्ध आचार्य थे। उन्होंने प्रख्यात विद्वान भगवद्भट्ट के गुरु भी थे, जिन्होंने नूतनतरी और विचारदीप नामक दो ग्रंथों की रचना की। आशाधरभट्ट का यह ग्रन्थ अद्वैतविवेक एक दुर्लभ तथा पूर्व में अप्रकाशित स्तोत्र "पीयूषनिर्झरस्तोत्र" के एक श्लोक पर आधारित व्याख्यान है। इस ग्रन्थ में अन्धों के गजदर्शन की प्रसिद्ध उपमा के माध्यम से विभिन्न दार्शनिक मतों के बीच समन्वय का प्रयास किया गया है। यह कार्य उन्होंने अपने गहरे शास्त्रीय ज्ञान और अद्वैत दर्शन की दृष्टि से किया है। इस ग्रन्थ के तीन मातृका हाल ही में उपलब्ध हुए हैं, जिन्हें आधार बनाकर प्रस्तुत समीक्षात्मक संपादन तैयार किया गया है। अद्वैतविवेक अद्वैत वेदान्त के मूल तत्त्वों को सहज व गूढ़ रूप में प्रस्तुत करता है और दार्शनिक मतभेदों के भीतर एकता का संकेत देता है।
